Alternatives is a non-profit organization that equips people of faith to challenge consumerism, live justly and celebrate in responsible earth friendly ways.

Alternatives started in 1973 to promote an alternative biblical vision of life based on voluntary simplicity, stewardship of creation, and encouraging meaningful celebrations that reflect conscientious "green" ways of living.

Throughout our 35-year history, we have led the movement to live more simply and faithfully. We have developed many different resources, published an annual Advent and Christmas magazine ("Whose Birthday Is It, Anyway?"), led numerous workshops, and reached countless people with the message of simple, earth friendly living.

By becoming a Member you can help us challenge the way our consumer society usurps faith traditions, exploits people, and damages the environment. With your help, more and more people can experience the joy that comes from living in ways that honor God's Creation.
